Project Overview

The Client wanted to develop a scalable smart school attendance system that can record and access timestamps of in and out time of students. The goal was to create a better solution for an attendance system that can record student databases and provide real-time status of students attendance. CoreFragment Technologies was developed as per the exact requirements and technology choice of the client.

Development Insights:

  • CoreFragment role : Product architecture, Hardware and Firmware Development
  • Each student will get an identity card with a small Bluetooth tag which has a unique ID.
  • A Bluetooth receiver will be placed at the school entrances and exits to pick up the signals from the student tags.
  • The receiver will record the exact time when each student enters and leaves the school.
  • The receiver will save the students ID and the timestamp on the device.
  • Periodically, this data can be transferred to a thumb drive (pen drive) as a CSV file for ease of reporting and analysis.

Can the system work in schools with poor or no internet connectivity?

Yes - this is one of the deliberate design strengths of this system. The receiver stores data locally without requiring an internet connection to function. Attendance is recorded offline, and data is retrieved via USB export when needed. This makes the system suitable for schools in areas with unreliable connectivity, which is especially relevant for the Asian market this project was built for.
